In November, 2020, MassHire Department of Career Services rolled out The Essentials of Job Referrals training to staff in the MassHire Career Centers. This was in conjunction with the debut of the new Premier Virtual software purchased for conducting virtual job fairs. Following that training, the MassHire North Central Career Center Business Service Representative, Scott Percifull, felt as if job seekers could also benefit from a demonstration of the platform prior to attending the statewide job fair. He created his own training demonstrating the screens that job seekers would see when registering for the job fair, how to move through the event and what a typical employer booth would look like. He combined this presentation to an already scheduled “Prepare for Job Fair” workshop and advertised it to all career centers across the state for their job seekers. MassHire North Central Career Center had 51 attendees for this virtual event, which included job seekers and staff members from other career centers. Here is just some of the customer feedback received on this event:
“The Premier Virtual presentation definitely helped describe how to navigate the state wide job fair. It helped tremendously while accessing the job fair. Thank you.”
“I thought the preparation was very helpful as I knew what to expect and how to navigate once I was logged in to the job fair. I also found the ‘before/during/after’ tips helpful, as well as the slides on developing an elevator speech.”
“The Premier platform for job fair prep was very helpful in preparing and navigating the job fair.”
“Yes, I found the preparation presentation to be helpful and yes, the presentation represented what I experienced during the job fair!”
This is a true demonstration of collaboration and an example of sharing resources for the MassHire system. For more information about the workshop or Premier Virtual job fair platform, please feel free to reach out to Scott at Scott.Percifull@DETMA.ORG.
